ABaez Basic Steps for Creating a Advanced Sound Track

1. Select your music file and convert it to MP3 (using Itunes) 

2. Open file with Audacity. 

3. Split the music file

4. Begin playing with the modification. 

5. Highlight and generate silence in order to allow the copy and paste function.

6. Use Mono, left or right audio sound. 

7. Save it as Project. Once everything is done then....

8. Export it to MP3 for web.

Dr. Gilbert gave us 45 minutes to continue the discussion about our project. He proposed two main questions: 

a. What is the title of your project? 

b. Provide a brief description of it. 

Title:  PERFORMING ARTS EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES   (To be revised) 

Description: 

The aim of this project it to make digital technology more useful to the performing arts education, particularly voice, piano and dance. Each individual discipline will benefit from the use of  technology. Whether in classroom, studio, or professional stage, digital technology provides a resourceful elements in the teaching and learning process.  In fact, with digital technology the teaching and learning process will be more comprehensive. (* This paragraph need to be re-written in a more concise and straight forward manner).

Our first meeting went pretty well. Aurora, Sharon and myself shared our goals, ideas and dreams of our our website should be. It was clear that each of us has a different vision and need for it. At the same time, we all agreed that IT WAS BE A USEFUL, FRIENDLY AND RESOURCEFUL website for us, for our students, and for others who may benefit from it. 

Team Members: 

Aurora Dreger is a second year student in the Dance Education program at NYU’s Steinhardt School. 

My name is Sharon Fann. I am 23 years old. I am currently a graduate student at New York University in the music education program. My main instrument is piano. I was born in Taipei, Taiwan.

Alejandro,  second year graduate student in Music Education/Voice Concentration. 

MPEG Streamclip -Squad 5 Software the BEST!

 Yesterday, Dr. Gibert was so excited when he share with us the MPEG Streamclip software. I think we all agree that his voice showed that excitement and I wonder if it was too much.  However, once I downloaded and play with it, I realized that it is a amazing software. 

Quoting Dr. Gilbert, "It takes anything and converts it to anything."  For months I have been collecting videos from youtube and other sources, yet I have been unable to play them in my Ipod. I also had some videos in my Ipod and I wanted to uploaded into my website.  

With MPEG Streamclip you can do all of that and more! I think this software will be a fantastic tool in classroom setting. As future educators, we will not be limited to use certain videos. Man times we need show clips to students or coworkers, yet some softwares do not play them because they are in different format. Now that is over!  Either real player, imovie,  Quicktime player or any other program will be just fine!  Thanks Dr. Gilbert! I now share your excitement!

It has been only 8 days since we began our Tech resources class and I can't believe how much we have learned. It has been the most productive summer course I ever taken.  After some browsing around, I came across this software that makes fun and friendly to find picture, videos and photos on the web.  

One more software in our collection. More reasons for using technology in the classroom. You may wonder why it is this software important or different from the other ones.  1) Easy browsing of pictures and videos. 2) Friendly to use. 3) You can browse your own photo collection through cooliris and have a wonderful presentation. 4) and more..

What else do we really need? Is are they Time saving or Time consuming?

Ipod, Iphone, MP3, blackberry, Zune, Amazon Reader, Voice mail, text messages, emails, hot messenger, gmail messenger, etc. etc. etc.  

Have you wonder how much time you spend checking all our devices? How much time do we really save using these devices? How much time do you really interact with one another? Have you ever been in class, conference, concert or even church while texting? Wow! 

I have! 

I am one of those people who are really grateful for having technological devices. They really helped me keep connected. I find myself checking my email one to 4 times a day. My voice messages got up to 3 by the middle of the day. Text messages are endless. What's wrong with this picture? As much as I am so glad for technology I find some days that I don't have any moment of peace. Should I blame to technology or my lack of control? Should I be more adamant in making choices and not allowing myself to be so "hook up" to my devices. 

Don't know! Let me think about it...

Printing Press & Electronic equipment IMPACT ON MUSIC

Two technological breakthroughs which have had a significant impact on music are the introduction of the printing press and the development of electronic equipment. 

Before the printing press, copying music by hand was a long, slow process, so very few people had access to the music. The printing press, a much cheaper and more time-efficient means of copying music, allowed larger quantities of copies to be produced and distributed. Composers became more well-known in places farther from their place of work. As music became more available for average people to listen to and perform, audiences and ensembles grew in size. 

The more recent development of electronic devices has affected music in many ways. Compsoers experimented with computer -generated sounds and manipulated music in ways never tried b fore. New techniques of creating music developed and new types of music emerged. Electronic recording devices have also aided in making music accessible to people in any places at any time. This has been both positive and negative. Even though people are more familiar with various genres of music attendance at some live performances has declined. 

The printing press and electronic devices have both impacted music. Both have allowed for music to grow and develop by making music more widespread and accessible. New electronic devices, unlike the printing press, aided in the creating of new genres of music. Another difference is that readily accessible electronic recoding and playing devices may have encourage a decline in attendance at some live performances, while the printing press increased attendance at live performances. 

The printing press and electronic devices are just two notable advances that caused music to grow in ways that, at the time, people didn't think possible.
